The grapes for this generous wine were grown in the Wairau Valley, Marlborough region, on low yielding vines. Perfect weather over harvest allowed the grapes to be picked at 23 Brix, at ideal ripeness and flavour profile.
The grapes were gently crushed, and allowed to cold soak to extract important colour and flavour components. Fermentation proceeded with plunging for further colour, flavour and fine tannin extraction. The resulting wine was then sent to wood for ageing over eleven months in quality French oak. The wine received a light egg white fining and was cross flow filtered prior to bottling on 11 February 2016 under screwcap closure.
Delightfully approachable, yet complex, this elegantly styled Pinot Noir exudes opulent blackberry and blackcurrant flavours intertwined with appealing leather and pepper spice notes. Harmonious in structure, it is an excellent match with salmon, lamb or pork dishes.
