The grapes for this aromatic variety were grown on a gently sloping north facing vineyard on the renowned Patutahi Plateau, Gisborne, which enjoys warm sunny days and cool nights. After a glorious summer, the fruit was harvested at optimum ripeness of 23 Brix in late March. There was high expectation that a stunning wine would ensue, and indeed it was!The juice was cool fermented with selected yeast in stainless steel to enhance the delightful flavour profile that is unique to Gewürztraminer. The wine required no fining, and was bottled after stabilisation under Screwcap on 17 November 2014.
This powerful yet elegantly styled Gewürztraminer offers attractive rose petal, lychee and Turkish Delight aromas. The palate exudes an unctuously smooth oily texture, lovely fine freshness, and delightful spicy apricot and melon flavours. Enticing! Immensely enjoyable on its own, or paired with your favourite Asian dish.
