Reserve Sauvignon Blanc 2009
Vintage: 2009Variety: Sauvignon BlancArea: Hawkes BayWinemaker: Tim Preston and Paul DawickAlcohol: 13.5%Tasting Notes:The grapes for this vibrant wine were selected from a cooler coastal vineyard (Church Block) in the Meeanee District of Hawkes Bay. They were harvested at ideal ripeness on 29th of March at 22.1 Brix, in optimal condition and flavour profile. The grapes were immediately pressed off their skins and cool tank fermented to retain their fresh fruity characters and lively acidity that this variety is classically renown for. It was then left on lees for a short period post ferment for enhanced complexity, before fining, filtering and bottling under screwcap on 17 September 2009. This lively wine presents intense passionfruit aromas and flavours, harmonizing with zesty pink grapefruit, gooseberry and lycheee, on a backbone of refreshing acidity. The palate is long and weighty, finishing crisp and dry. Delicious on its own, it is also an ideal accompaniment with food, and will cellar well for the medium term.
