Mills Reef Sauvignon Blanc 2008
| Vintage: 2008 Variety: Sauvignon Blanc Area: Hawkes Bay & Marlborough Winemakers: Tim Preston & Paddy Preston Alcohol: 13% Tasting Note: This quality two-region blend, comprising 70% Hawkes Bay for lively tropical fruit character and 30% Marlborough for vibrant acidity and classic herbaceousness, was harvested on 31 March and 7 April respectively, at an average of 21 Brix. The juice parcels were separately cool tank fermented to emphasise the fresh fruit characters of this variety, then blended in ideal ratios for optimal wine style and left to rest in tank for 2 months prior to bottling on 27 July and 6 August under screwcap closure. This expressive wine is ideally enjoyed in it's youth, when alive with fruit expression and lively acidity. Intense aromas of gooseberry, tropical stone fruits, cut grass, fresh capsicum and hints of passionfruit lead into a round and supple palate, with tropical stone fruits, passionfruit and lime flavours. The palate is fresh and clean, with excellent length and balanced acidity, and a satisfying crisp finish.
